On the Move

Pub Crawl was feature complete Sunday. However, it was decided to delay it’s release. This weekend Stolen Notebook will relocate to it’s new penthouse apartment/offices at 210 N Charter. There will be some down time while we move in. We decided to spend our remaining time expanding Pub Crawl instead of starting a new milestone as we pack up and move in.

We were considering doing this for Pub Crawl since it’s a pretty intense demo and might not run well on everyone’s computer. There is a program for capturing video and audio called FRAPS which is pretty amazing. Once we have a video we can encode it to our liking.

I didn’t know that the makers of Ogg Vorbis were working on a video codec. That’s really cool. We might just release an Ogg Vorbis Theora video.

I’d be hesitant to use a format that would require a non-power user to download and install a player. If some linux-poser wants to watch our videos on his system, he should be elite enough to find his own solution while VanGavin watches by clicking on the picture of the video.

My preferance is to use something like YouTube video embedded in the browser, with a link to a High Definition Ogg version underneath. Because linux-posers like to waste lots of bandwidth on things like a 1080p signal of my face.
